Our Plastic Future From Land to Sea: Talk by Anna Cummins

Join the Colorado Ocean Coalition and Denver Divers for a talk by Anna Cummins, Co-Founder of 5 Gyres followed by a social.
Is it true that by 2050 there will be more plastic by weight than fish in the Ocean? Anna will share stories of researching and documenting plastic pollution by sailing thru the worlds 5 great subtropical gyres: massive vortexes fueled by ocean currents.
She will also pose the question: Why might Coloradans want to know how much plastic pollution is in our own rivers and lakes?
The Truck Stops Here! Performance for Resilience
Thursday, Nov. 17th, 7-8:30 p.m.
CU students of a course entitled "Performance for Resilience" are working with various Boulder County partners to discover how performance can serve as a tool towards resilience. Through performance, a city can know itself at a deeper level, find an active forum for resolving differences, rehearse new social possibilities before resources are invested, celebrate itself, and can communicate itself beyond its borders.
Guests who join us will learn and experience active, embodied strategies for processing through areas of concerns and possibilities for your organization We are defining resilience as the capacity of communities to function, so that the people living and working in that community—particularly those who are under-resourced and vulnerable—survive and thrive no matter what social stresses or climate shocks come their way.
